Founder & CEO
Chris was born in Sayre, Oklahoma and moved to Lubbock, Texas during high school. He is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a BBA in Management and was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He married his college sweetheart, Sherilyn, and together they have 2 kids. Chris managed Double T Bookstore and the Spirit Shop for many years before deciding to open Red & Black College Bookstore in 2005. In 2012, he opened Tully’s Corner Store on the corner of Main and University. In 2014, space for two businesses opened up next to Tully’s. Chris has had a love of good food, The Food Channel and Diner’s Drive – In’s and Dives for years and when the space next to Tully’s opened up he naturally wanted to add a restaurant. Together with a good friend and Texas Tech alum, Chef Zach Dunphy, they created a menu. Texas Pressed Sandwich Pit opened in 2015. Chris had also started doing custom business for clients over the years at Red and Black and really enjoyed that side of his business. University Custom was created to continue and grow his custom business. It filled the space next to Texas Pressed and was opened in 2015 as well. The 3 businesses are all open to each other which makes shopping at UC convenient while you wait on your food. Chris is an extremely hard worker and will spend his mornings and afternoons finding the best product for his clients, embroidering or meeting with potential clients. Sometimes he will be seen in the kitchen of Texas Pressed making delicious sandwiches during the lunch rush.
In his spare time, Chris is a triathlete and has enjoyed races in Canada, Mexico and across the US. He is a very passionate person with everything he does whether it is work, hobbies or family.
